How to make kadak desi chai


This is my favorite. Trust me I always start my day with a cup of tea since last 10 years.

I am not sure if anyone in India doesn’t know about tea or preparation of tea. I am just adding a pinch of salt for the Bachelor’s kitchen. Chai is the only thing you can get in any part of India. You get this as a welcome drink in any house.

I live in Delhi (The pride of India) and all the government office are here. Before office starts, you can find people gather around a nearby tea shop. And take my words you will definitely find one. 🙂

Over the period of time, I have tried almost all kind of Indian chai. I prefer few of the below combinations.

Kadak desi chai – tulsi, ginger
Doodh kam pani – Whenever you have less milk and more guests at home 🙂
Desi chai – cardamoms, cinnamon
Mix chai – whenever I am exhausted – tulsi, ginger, cardamoms, cinnamon

So you can use any combination of your choice to make tea.

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Serves: 2
1 thumb size ginger
2 green cardamoms
1/4 inch cinnamon
2 cups water
Sugar: According to your taste
1 teaspoon tea leaves
1 cup milk


1) Boil water and tea leaves together for 4-5 minutes at low flame
2) Then in a mortal pastel crush green cardamoms, ginger and cinnamon
3) Add this mixture and boil for another 4-5 minutes
4) Now add milk and sugar
5) Boil for another 5 minutes

Ready to serve your hot hard drink – Kadak desi chai 🙂
